4 week course –  6-8pm - Mon 10/2, Mon 10/9, Mon 10/16, Mon 10/23

The focus of this class will be to learn the basic materials, techniques, and tools used to create realistic paintings of automobiles showing the polished finishes and tiny details that make them vibrant and sometimes flashy.  Once we have covered the fundamentals of using the medium, you will learn the process of constructing the painting using a grid technique, blocking in the under-painting with base colors, and then developing the detailed layers to account for all the tiny details.

You'll learn how to paint smooth gradients, chrome finishes, and how to not get overwhelmed by the immense details.  You'll learn to prioritize the order of layers and how to develop a fully realized painting.  Materials List will be provided for brushes, paints, and substrates via email prior to the class start date.  Each student will create one paintings during this workshop that will be based on photo references supplied by the student.

Class Schedule
Wk 1: Review of materials, painting basics, and demonstration on how to prepare and layout the painting by creating

an initial sketch and then each student will begin laying out their own painting.
Wk 2: Working from photo references brought by student, initial sketch and first layer of painting will be completed

on larger canvas.

Wk 3: Continue developing layers and continue building details and gradients to capture the contours of the vehicle.  Guidance will continually be given on different techniques and construction strategies.
Wk 4: Completion of final layer to include fine tuning details and critique of finished painting.
